If upon landing at Capodichino International Airport, you want to reach Sorrento by train, you must reach the Naples central train station (“stazione centrale”).
To go from the airport to the train station, you can either take a taxi or the shuttle bus.
The shuttle bus that connects Naples airport to the train station and port is called ALIBUS. A one way ticket costs 5 eur.
Shuttles run from 6 am to 11.40 pm every 20/30 minutes in peak hours (please check the updated time schedule on line). 1 suitcase & 2 carry on pieces are free.

Taxis are typically accessible at the airport; however, there could be wait times, especially during peak seasons or busy periods. You cannot book a taxi in advance. As of now, the pre-fixed fare is 18 eur to get to the train station and 21 eur for the port. The ride can take from 20 minutes to 60 minutes according to traffic. If you must catch a train, allow enough time.
- TIP: beware of taxi fares! Taxis are required to adhere to a fixed rate for the route from the airport to the train station or the port. If you opt for a taxi, ensure the driver follows the fixed rate. You must ask to get the fixed fare before starting the journey, otherwise they will use the taximeter. Fixed fares include ALL supplements (luggage, night or festive supplement, pets, etc.) Inquire about the fixed fare to guarantee transparency and prevent misunderstandings.
Getting to Sorrento by Train
High speed trains from Milan, Florence, and Rome arrive at Naples’ Centrale train station. If you’re considering how to travel from Naples Airport to Sorrento, opting for the train provides a cost effective solution.
The Circumvesuviana train station is downstairs. This line runs from Naples to Sorrento, and tickets cost less than €4.

- The ride lasts between 1 hour and 10 minutes and 1 hr and 40 minutes, with a number of stops along the way. Sorrento is the last stop along the line.
- The Circumvesuviana is a commuter train along a main line, so can get very crowded and you may not find seating.
- Trains are not air conditioned.
- The Naples train station has the same sort of safety issues that any train station in a large city may have, so keep an eye on your valuables and documents and don’t wear expensive jewellery.
- The train usually runs on time but there might be delays at times, and is generally the fastest and cheapest way to reach Sorrento (not the most comfortable)
- We recommend avoiding the Circumvesuviana from Naples to Sorrento on Sunday mornings in the summer, and national holidays.
- TIP: If you are travelling with a number of bags, we do not recommend taking the Circumvesuviana:
- There are no escalators to reach the platform.
- There is no space to store luggage on the train.
- The trains can get very crowded, so you may have to travel standing up with your bags next to you.

The Curreri bus departs from the Naples Capodichino airport terminal and arrives in Sorrento in a little over an hour. You can purchase your ticket on board for €10. The bus stop is opposite the airport arrivals gate; buses arrive about ten minutes before every scheduled departure and there is ample space for luggage on board. Buses run daily. Get from Naples to Sorrento by boat
One of the most scenic and relaxing ways to reach Sorrento is by ferry. Ferries depart from Naples “Beverello” harbour. From Highway A3 Napoli – Pompei – Sorrento (Naples – Pompeii – Sorrento), exit at Castellammare di Stabia and continue straight following the signs to “Sorrento”. After passing through three tunnels and a few kilometers of curvy, scenic road, you’ll pass through the towns of Meta, Piano, and Sant’Agnello and arrive in Sorrento.
Travelling with a group of friends: which is the best way to get to Sorrento?
For groups of more than 7 guests, we highly recommend booking a private group transfer. According to the size of your group, a mini van or a coach might be the best, most comfortable and more affordable way to get to Sorrento. If you are travelling with a lot of luggage, we suggest booking a slightly bigger transportation. If you are traveling in a small group, a private transfer can cost more or less the same as taking public transport, considering train tickets, taxi, and ferry costs.
